WELCOME TEAMS:
Please take some time to navigate our new webpage, it has a lot of new features and information on it! Also make sure you have everything covered on the checklist at the bottom of this page...

Who We Are:
We are the Midwest Collegiate Ski Conference of the United States Collegiate Snowsports Association. There are over 5,000 athletes competing in 11 ski racing conferences, including the Midwest Conference that form the U.S.C.S.A. Within these 11 conferences there are 24 divisions that run an annual schedule of 250 ski races. The USCSA governs 72% of all collegiate ski racing in the United States. There are over 200 colleges who compete nationally at either varsity or club sports levels. The Midwest Conference usually has between 30-40 teams participating each season, making us one of the largest ski racing conferences in the US.

Insurance:
Again this year we will be using a private insurance carrier. It is a large savings to our racers as well as being a requirement of each hill that we race at. This is NOT a primary medical insurance policy, it is a secondary liability policy to protect the hill in the event of an accident on the hill. Should a racer eject a ski and that ski injures a recreational skier, this policy covers you and us from the liability that most likely would ensue.

Race Schedules:
The Midwest is divided into 4 Divisions; Ohio, Chicago, Lake Superior, and Michigan. Teams will be designated into divisions by the Regional Office. Your team must participate in a majority of regular season races in your designated Division to participate in the Divisional post season race. To qualify for the MCSA Regional event, teams must qualify through their designated Divisional Race, meeting all team and individual requirements. Teams may participate in other Divisions regular season events, as long as the requirements are met in their own Division. Race Schedules are due by e-mail at the Regional Office by Dec 15th, 2005. By letting us know what races you plan to attend, coordinators can better plan their races.

Elections:
Each conference will be required to hold annual elections EACH SPRING for all offices. This is not only your voice in the operation of their organization, but a requirement of our non-profit tax status.

Cross Country:
Nordic skiing is back!!! It is a benefit to ALL RACERS to support a Nordic team - remember that an alpine team can become eligible to race in Nationals if you have a cross country team that is also participating in Nationals. Nordic teams MUST participate in a majority of MCSA sanctioned events and attend an MCSA regional race to be eligible to qualify for Nationals. Alpine teams that recruit a NEW Nordic team of 5 or more racers qualify for a finders fee! Contact Robin Dzubay for more info!

Eligibility:
Each racer must be a FULL TIME STUDENT in an accredited undergraduate program. The USCSA follows NCAA II Rules for eligibility. See the NCAA rule book for further information, or see the school registrar. The SKI TEAM ELIGIBILITY FORM, listing all ski members and requested items of information concerning academic eligibility, is required for validation of college registration and athletic eligibility of all individuals wishing to participate on a college ski team under the auspices of the USCSA. It is the responsibility of all teams to fill out this form. Proved accurate and complete information where requested. Submit the completed form to the proper college authorities for additional information, verification and signature. File one copy to the USCSA national office and keep one copy for your team records.

Divisional and Regional Individual Race Qualifications:
To be eligible for the post season competition (divisionals and regionals) each individual racer must have participated in at least 4 one day regular races (e.g. 2 full weekends or 4 Saturday races or 4 Sunday races, etc). Each individual racer must participate in their Divisional race to qualify for participation in the Regional competition.

Regional Race Qualification:
Qualification for the Regional race is done through participation in the Division you are competing in AND one wild card from each division for your participation finishes in regular season competition. Wild card points are awarded to teams based on regular season results and participation. This allows a team with consistent finishes to attend Regional where they may have not qualifies through divisionals.

Running Order Procedure:
A race schedule and list of coordinators is available on this web site. Running orders MUST BE PHONE, FAXED or E-MAILED to your coordinator by the days and times noted on their schedule. All racers on the called in list MUST PAY THE RACE FEE - RACING OR NOT! Additional racers may be added to end of run order at race time and must pay the race fee at that time. Run orders may not be changed once they are sent to your coordinator. Bibs are pulled, computers are programmed and scoreboards are printed by this time. Changes not be accepted.

National Registration:
All participating ski teams must register annually with the USCSA by first submitting both the SKI TEAM REGISTRATION FORM and the INDICATED NATIONAL DUES. At that time, the SKI TEAM ELIGIBILITY FORM, INDIVIDUAL COMPETITOR FORM and other materials will be issued. All registration forms must be received by NOVEMBER 22, 2005. If your team misses this deadline, your team will be issued a restricted license and will not be eligible for post season competition. For more information, check out their website: United States Collegiate Ski Association
If you have not received your registration forms, you may E-Mail
Note: New for 2005. All NATIONAL Registration will be done ONLINE. Please visit the USCSA National website for more information.

Regional Registration:
Again this year as a cost saving measure, the Alpine forms as well as the Nordic forms are available on this site and will NOT be mailed. You will still need the National Registration Information, but this will allow you to get your registration in to us on time. Please print and fill out the forms completely and legibly. Use separate forms for alpine and Nordic if this applies to you. Follow the links under the appropriate discipline to find these forms. These forms must be mailed back to our office with the proper payment. If you know you will be late, please contact our office at (952) 249-0568 or e-mail us at: mcsa@skimcsa.com
